Properly trained working dogs give the onlooker an appearance of a well behaved obedient and brighter then average appearance. In order to accomplish this, a definite line between daily routines (at home) and work hours must be drawn. Dogs can feel pain, they can get happy, cross, or upset they can also get bored. For a dog to be successful and to force its potential he/she must love to work and never get bored from working. Dogs are living creatures not robots! The FGO program is an accommodation program. It's a communication system that you're dog will use throughout its life. The trainee will learn commands and actions and will perform them according to the FGO standard. Perfection is not expected. When a parent asks their child to do something the parent doesn't expect their child to say OK and perform immediately every time. Even though it wouldn't be bad… We can't expect a dog to jump to it each and every time. If we do in time the dog will be slower and slower at performing and will be bored. When immediate and perfection in actions are required obedience commands or specialist commands are used. FGO commands are used at home drawing a line between them. The FGO program is also the foundation of future training. Future programs attended use this foundation and build upon it. FGO trained dogs are happy to obey and perform, they are willing to please and work with humans. They will have learnt to be taken for walks and not take their owners for walks. They will have learnt commands such as sit, lay, wait, stand, turn, eat on command etc. FGO is given to dogs at the age of 4 – 8 months and due to their age they are not forced. Obedience training cannot be given to young poppies but a good foundation can be.
