Importing dogs and pets to Northern Cyprus

childs best friend

All pets are welcome to import to Northern Cyprus. pre booking is not required. However you will be required to check with your travel agency first. This is very important and I strongly advise that you get writen confirmation first. The reason for this is that not all planes have the requirements for live cargo. Cargo heating and oxygen supply is a must and not all planes have the necessary fitments. So get it in writing!

Another option is to get a pet freight company to get youre pet to its final destinatoion and it doesn't cost as much as you would think.

Pets must have all their vacinations complete and up to date. Different companys allow different sized containers to be taken on flight with you. Check first you might be able to get your pet on board with you.

Sleeping pills or sim. are not a must. Get advice from your vet.

Animals entering the TRNC will require to stay in quarentine so be prepaired. However you are allowed to visit, walk and feed your pet/s during business hours.

I would advice a plastic crate for travel rather then wooden or metal cage. Make sure that it is big enough for future use they enough come handy. Try manteling and dismanteling it single handed before purchase. Wheels are a greaty plus. A guarantee for structure isn't that much of a great plus though, a broken crate in a plane with a gurantee doesn't help much so double check strength, loks etc. and search for a reptubale seller and brand sertifications on crates isn't a stupid thing as some believe. The crate door must be easy to open and close and lock single handed. The lock must be on the outside and trustworthy and easily opened by man ie. no key. A bowl for water is a must and a good fixing for it is important. Go with instincts and trustworthy advice. Air ventilation is very very important. The CRATE must have a middle section that is wider then the crate in a bumper form. The importance of this is that it protects from bumps and it also stops ventilation being blocked due to objects being stacked close up. Also a plus is if the wheels can easily be dismounted. Play with the crate before buying. USE THE GUARANTEE make it your dogs home for at least 2 weeks prior to moving. If it is to break let it break at home. Your pet must feal safe in the crate so getting it get used to it prior to the trip is important. Take your pets for long rides in the crate covered and in the dark (don't forget about ventilation!!!). Let him/her get really used to it.
